چکیده

Abstract Background Among the different CardioVascular (CV) manifestation of COronaVIrus-related Disease (COVID) particular attention has been paid to arrhythmia and particularly Atrial fibrillation (AF). The aim our study was assess incidence AF episodes in patients hospitalized for COVID evaluate its predictors relationship with in-hospital all-cause mortality. Methods We enrolled 3435 cases SARS-CoV2 infection admitted four hospitals Northern Italy. collected data on clinical history, vital signs, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission, laboratory tests pharmacological treatment. incident mortality were considered as outcomes. Results 145 (4.2%) develop during hospitalization, a median time 3 days (IQR: 0, 11.5) from admission. Incident older had lower eGFR, platelet lymphocytes count higher C-Reactive Protein (CRP), more frequently ICU died compared subjects that didn't present AF. At Cox regression model significant determinants age (HR 1.070; 95% CI: 1.048, 1.092), history 2.800; 1.465, 5.351), ischemic heart disease 0.324; 0.130, 0.811) admission 8.030; 4.511, 14.292). predictor 1.679; 1.170, 2.410), together 1.053; 1.042, 1.065), dementia 1.553; CI 1.151, 2.095), 0.997; 0.996, 0.999) CRP 1.004; 1.003, 1.005) eGFR (HR: 0.991; 0.986, 0.996) Conclusion main COVID-19 development hospitalization strongly relates

Assessment of P-wave indices as atrial fibrillation predictors in psoriasis patients

Background: Psoriasis is a prevalent chronic T cell mediated inflammatory skin disorder. Recent studies have reported an increase in the incidence of arrhythmia in psoriasis patients who run an excessive risk of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases. P-wave dispersion (PWD) and duration are important electrocardiographic (ECG) markers employed to anticipate the risk of atrial arrhythmi...

Investigation of the relationship between pharmacological knowledge of anticoagulants with medication adherence in the elderly patients with atrial fibrillation

Introduction and Aim: In the elderly, the rate of adherence to the medication regimen and the rate of remembering how to correctly prescribe medication is low due to old age and memory loss, which leads to poor therapeutic results. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between anticoagulants knowledge and adherence to treatment in elderly cardiac patients with atrial fibrillat...

Incidence and predictors of excessive warfarin anticoagulation in patients with atrial fibrillation—The EWA study

Vitamin K antagonist warfarin is widely used in clinical practice and excessive anticoagulation is a well-known complication of this therapy. Little is known about permanent and temporary predictors for severe overanticoagulation. The aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence and predicting factors for episodes with very high (≥9) international normalized ratio (INR) values in warfari...
